I have had to learn how to do yard work. We had a huge yard. It was miserable. I had half the grass removed from the backyard. I am not in the process of creating the Zen Rock Pit. That's my fancy name for "Look, less grass to mow." Mark offered to hire someone to mow the lawn, but I have a hard time paying for something I can do. I just don't like doing it. Actually, it is growing on me. My friend Errin mentioned that I might be a bit OCD about the weeds. It's true. I want the back to be weed-free. Why did Errin laugh at me when I said that?
I called Mark one day with my great idea. Voicemail.
Me: Hey, I am thinking about asking our neighbor's yard guy to mow the front when he does the neighbors. I can totally take care of the back, but it would be nice to have the front done so I can focus on my Zen Pit.
The next day.
Mark: So did you ask the neighbor's lawn guy about the front?
Me: No. I got busy and didn't catch him while he was there.
Mark: Really, because he lives there.
Me: What?
Mark: The lawn guy is the neighbor. Same guy.
Me: NO!
Mark: YES!
Me: Are you sure?
Mark: Yeah. He's only been the neighbor since we moved in years ago.
Me: But it doesn't even look like him.
Mark: It's him.
Me: But he has his yard done every Friday afternoon.
Mark: Yep. He has Friday afternoon off.
Me: How do you know?
Mark: How long have we lived there? I notice things.
Me: Oh. I guess it's a good thing I didn't ask him what he would charge to do the front.
Mark: Yep.
So I felt a little dumb, but come on...they don't look like the same person. I mean it's weird how much the neighbor changes when he puts on his work clothes and Mexican yard work hat. I want a Mexican yard work hat too. Maybe people won't recognize me.
